Pick up something small and chances are you won't have a problem carrying it around awhile. When our muscle fibers get depleted, they're naturally replaced by new ones, and life goes on. But pick up something heavy and it won't be long before you're straining big-time. The longer you carry it, the heavier it'll feel. That's exactly how emotional baggage works. You can tolerate the smaller stuff for a while, but the big things? Anger, guild, fear, shame? You weren't designed to bear those burdens, And if you try, it won't be long before signs of struggle show up all over your life. You may be carrying something you picked up yesterday or years ago. Regardless, Jesus longs to lighten your load.
Scriptures: "God, create a clean heart for me and remove a steadfast spirit within me." Psalm 51:10.
